Resistive Touch

IDS can offer resistive touch options for all of our standard display options.

If all of these options are still not quite giving you everything you need, then we can offer our customisation service.

All analog touch screens consist of a ridged layer and a flexible layer with a separation layer between them.

The flexible layer is exposed to the outside, towards the user. The inside surfaces of the ridged and flexible layers are coated with a resistive coating, usually ITO (indium tin oxide). When the flexible layer is pushed its conductive surface will make contact with the conductive surface of the ridged layer making an electrical connection between the two layers at the point of contact. Measurements are then made to determine the point of contact.

We can offer different sizes and termination options, extended services include screen printing , led and membrane incorporation.

Segment based touch

The simplest form of Touch Sensor which has a number of discrete sensor areas. The layout of
the sensors is fixed and is typically a matrix of X * Y or discrete sensors on the panel. For such a touch screen simple sensing such as keypad scanning is all that is required.

Custom solutions for segment based touch solutions are easy to make and are relatively cheap to tool.
